computer graphics cards reviews

Computer is a important part of our life now. many years ago. we are often use desk computer for our life and work for  promotion. and the latest few years, computer has developed from desk computer to laptop. and get more and more portable. but do you know what is the Difference between Laptop and Desktop computer?

It's easier for a desktop computer to have a bigger memory and to hold more RAM than a laptop computer simply because there is more space available for the storage.

The space in a desktop computer will often allow the user to choose almost unlimited accessories and options that a laptop computer just may not have the space to hold. Things like a top speed processor, the latest state of the art sound and graphics cards, extra ports for external linking and more than enough storage space for all of the programs, music and video clips that you'll ever need.

The extra space also comes with one more big benefit that you don't often find with a laptop - the ability to easily upgrade. This means that you can keep your machine from becoming obsolete for much longer by continually adding the latest programs, components and accessories.

The one glaring advantage a laptop computer holds over its desktop counter part is portability. If you have a job that requires you to travel, or if you're a student living in a closet sized dormitory with three others students, a laptop computer is practically a necessity. No matter how powerful or fast your desktop computer is, you can't unplug it, take it to the subway and finish writing your report while you travel.

Despite the common misconception that all desktop computers are more powerful than all laptops, the laptop computers of today have much better technology in them than the laptops of yesterday. You will pay more for a supper powerful laptop than you will for the same caliber desktop, but then again, the lower price of the desktop won't help you on the go.

I think the above illustrations tell you that both types of computer can be the best, depending on situation. The key isn't between choosing one over the other, it's in choosing the best computer of the type that you choose.

You need to get online and do some research on the different brands of computers to find what the best and most reliable machines are. There are a slew of different manufacturers producing computers today, you need to find which manufacturer is producing the best reviewed computers of the type that you have determined that you need and base your decision on those facts.

Buying a computer from a reputable and reliable manufacturer will ensure that you get a high quality machine. This is a piece of equipment that will be a big part of your life, hopefully, for years to come; you shouldn't look to get the cheapest price if it will mean that you are sacrificing quality. Never spend your hard earned money on a machine that has gotten a host of unfavorable reviews, or on a machine that you've never heard of.

Computer Graphics Card Help?

I have got a Dell Inspiron 530s computer and have been playing this game called Team Fortress 2 but recently i have have been having slow and laggy gameplay. I don't mean laggy as in every 20 seconds or so i mean constant slow gameplay, it tends to be on levels with more detail so i was hoping to get a new Graphics Card/Driver which is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 but i read some reviews on the Dell Inspirons Graphics Card/Driver and someone mentioned the size so i was wondering if anyone knows if i can get a Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 Graphics Card/Driver into a Dell Inspiron 530s. Now it has to be the 530s because the s stands for slim and that is what my comp is. If anyone knows please tell me thanks Dan
Thanks for answer but how do i find out what wattage my PSU is. And is there a way of attaching the Graphics Card/Driver to the outside of my PC just incase it doesn't fit inside?

Well don't know, if your card is physically going fit into your case, but i would consider the power of your PSU (Power Supply Unit) first. If you don't have like a 650+Watts PSU it will be impossible for your PC to operate this card anyway, because it is sucking up alot of power.

The Grammar of Graphics

The Grammar of Graphics

$95.48

This book was written for statisticians, computer scientists, geographers, researchers, and others interested in visualizing data. It presents a unique foundation for producing almost every quantitative graphic found in scientific journals, newspapers, statistical packages, and data visualization systems. While the tangible results of this work have been several visualization software libraries, this book focuses on the deep structures involved in producing quantitative graphics from data. What are the rules that underlie the production of pie charts, bar charts, scatterplots, function plots, maps, mosaics, and radar charts? Those less interested in the theoretical and mathematical foundations can still get a sense of the richness and structure of the system by examining the numerous and often unique color graphics it can produce. The second edition is almost twice the size of the original, with six new chapters and substantial revision. Much of the added material makes this book suitable for survey courses in visualization and statistical graphics. "This fascinating book deconstructs the process of producing graphics and in doing so raises many fascinating questions on the nature and representation of information...This second edition is almost twice the size of the original, with six new chapters and substantial revisions." Short Book Reviews of the International Statistical Institute, December 2005 "When the first edidtion of this book appeared in 2000 it was much praised. I called it a tour de force of the highest order. (Wainer, 2001), Edward Wegman (2000) argued that it was destined to become a classic. Now, six years later this very fine book has been much improved." Howard Wainer for Psychometrika ..".The second edition is an impressive expansion beyond a quite remarkable first edition. The text remains dense and even more encyclopedic, but it is a pleasure to read, whether a novice or an expert in graphics...this book is a bargain...The second edition is a must-have volume for anyone interested in graphics." Thomas E. Bradstreet for the Journal of the American Statistical Association, December 2006 "I find myself still thinking about the book and its ideas, several weeks after I finished reading it. I love that kind of book." Mark Bailey for Techometrics, Vol. 49, No. 1, February 2007 "Warts and all, The Grammar of Graphics is a richly rewarding work, an outstanding achievement by one of the leaders of statistical graphics. Seek it out." Nicholas J. Cox for the Journal of Statistical Software, January 2007

Implicit Objects in Computer Graphics

Implicit Objects in Computer Graphics

$120.98

Implicit definition and description of geometric objects and surfaces plays a critical role in the appearance and manipulation of computer graphics. In addition, the mathematical definition of shapes, using an implicit form, has pivotal applications for geometric modeling, visualization and animation. Until recently, the parametric form has been by far the most popular geometric representation used in computer graphics and computer-aided design. Whereas parametric objects and the techniques associated with them have been exhaustively developed, the implicit form has been used as a complementary geometric representation, mainly in the restricted context of specific applications. However, recent developments in graphics are changing this situation, and the community is beginning to draw its attention to implicit objects. This is reflected in the current research of aspects related to this subject. Employing a coherent conceptual framework, Implicit Objects in Computer Graphics addresses the role of implicitly defined objects in the following parts: mathematical foundations of geometric models, implicit formulations for the specification of shapes, implicit primitives, techniques for constructing and manipulating implicit objects, modeling, rendering and animation implicit objects. Topics and features: *Broad, conceptual approach covers the fundamental algorithms and ideas *Integrated and up-to-date overview of the main developments surrounding implicit objects *Organized and cohesive presentation combines theory and practice *Provides thorough explanation of key problems and challenges in the field

Non-Photorealistic Computer Graphics

Non-Photorealistic Computer Graphics

$62.99

Even as developments in photorealistic computer graphics continue to affect our work and leisure activities, practitioners and researchers are devoting more and more attention to non-photorealistic (NPR) techniques for generating images that appear to have been created by hand. These efforts benefit every field in which illustrations-thanks to their ability to clarify, emphasize, and convey very precise meanings-offer advantages over photographs. These fields include medicine, architecture, entertainment, education, geography, publishing, and visualization. Non-Photorealistic Computer Graphics is the first and only resource to examine non-photorealistic efforts in depth, providing detailed accounts of the major algorithms, as well as the background information and implementation advice readers need to make headway with these increasingly important techniques. Already, an estimated 10% of computer graphics users require some form of non-photorealism. Strothotte and Schlechtweg's important new book is designed and destined to be the standard NPR reference for this large, diverse, and growing group of professionals. *Hard-to-find information needed by a wide range and growing number of computer graphics programmers and applications users. *Traces NPR principles and techniques back to their origins in human vision and perception. *Focuses on areas that stand to benefit most from advances in NPR, including medical and architectural illustration, cartography, and data visualization. *Presents algorithms for two and three-dimensional effects, using pseudo-code where needed to clarify complex steps. *Helps readers attain pen-and-ink, pencil-sketch, and painterly effects, in addition to other styles. *Explores specific challenges for NPR-including "wrong" marks, deformation, natural media, artistic technique, lighting, and dimensionality. *Includes a series of programming projects in which readers can apply the book's concepts and algorithms.

The Magic of Computer Graphics (Paperback)

The Magic of Computer Graphics (Paperback)

$46.94

In broad terms, computer graphics (CG) is the use of computers to create images. CG has come to be the dominant form of content creation for video games, movie special effects, and many other forms of entertainment. One of the principal things CG does for creatives is to free them from the bounds of what can be held in front of a camera. From the standpoint of a na¿ve observer, CG really is magic. Vision is entwined with our sense of reality, ?seeing is believing? as they say, and when the line between physical experience and imagination is crossed, there is simply no other word for it.Computer graphics is a vast field, and getting larger every day. It is impossible to cover every topic of interest, even within a specialization such as CG rendering. For many years, Noriko Kurachi has reported on the latest developments for Japanese readers in her monthly column for Computer Graphics World. Being something of a pioneer herself, she selected topics that represented original and promising new directions for research, as opposed to the tried and true methods. Many of these novel ideas paid off handsomely, and these are the topics covered in this book.Starting from the basic behavior of light, Ms. Kurachi introduces the most useful techniques for global and local illumination using geometric descriptions of an environment in the first section. She then goes on to describe image-based techniques that rely on captured data to do their magic in the second section. In the final section, she looks at the synthesis of these two complementary approaches and what they mean for the future of computer graphics.

Computer Graphics Through Opengl (Hardcover)

$90.29

Gruha transformed his notes for courses taught at the U. of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), putting his enthusiasm and deep knowledge into a form useful (and fun) for a wide audience--as a classroom text or for self study. Intertwining code and theory and incorporating many many hundreds of programs, experiments, exercises, worked examples, and color illustrations, the author uses what he calls a "discuss-experiment-repeat loop"--which means that students need a computer handy as they read (he advises against trying to curl up in bed with this text). The first 14 chapters provide an introductory foundation--covering concepts underlying 3D computer graphics and coding of 3D scenes and animation; following are six chapters for more advanced study. Readers need a basic knowledge of C++ programming (no need to be an expert), and basic math through linear algebra (a math test is appended to assess readiness); no knowledge of computer graphics is prerequisite. Computer Graphics for Artists II (Paperback)

Computer Graphics for Artists II (Paperback)

$72.81

In this second volume of Computer Graphics for Artists the author, Andrew Paquette, guides the reader through the creation of realistic computer-generated backgrounds and characters. Rather than teach using a specific program, the author focuses on the theory required to ensure that the artist can create a convincing landscape, building, person or whatever they turn their attention to. Part One covers the core areas of background generation, such as CG terrain, plant life and architecture, but also deals with specific concepts such as photo-texturing and lighting, explaining all the advantages and pitfalls involved. Part Two introduces the reader to the study of the body-shape and movement and their consequent effects upon successful digital-recreation, as well as addressing some of the fundamental elements of appearance; hair, skin and fat. It is assumed that readers will be familiar with the terms and concepts described in the first volume of this work.

Graphics of Large Datasets: Visualizing a Million

Graphics of Large Datasets: Visualizing a Million

$104.98

Graphics are great for exploring data, but how can they be used for looking at the large datasets that are commonplace to-day? This book shows how to look at ways of visualizing large datasets, whether large in numbers of cases or large in numbers of variables or large in both. Data visualization is useful for data cleaning, exploring data, identifying trends and clusters, spotting local patterns, evaluating modeling output, and presenting results. It is essential for exploratory data analysis and data mining. Data analysts, statisticians, computer scientists-indeed anyone who has to explore a large dataset of their own-should benefit from reading this book. New approaches to graphics are needed to visualize the information in large datasets and most of the innovations described in this book are developments of standard graphics. There are considerable advantages in extending displays which are well-known and well-tried, both in understanding how best to make use of them in your work and in presenting results to others. It should also make the book readily accessible for readers who already have a little experience of drawing statistical graphics. All ideas are illustrated with displays from analyses of real datasets and the authors emphasize the importance of interpreting displays effectively. Graphics should be drawn to convey information and the book includes many insightful examples. From the reviews: "Anyone interested in modern techniques for visualizing data will be well rewarded by reading this book. There is a wealth of important plotting types and techniques." Paul Murrell for the Journal of Statistical Software, December 2006 "This fascinating book looks at the question of visualizing large datasets from many different perspectives. Different authors are responsible for different chapters and this approach works well in giving the reader alternative viewpoints of the same problem. Interestingly the authors have cleverly chosen a definition of 'large dataset'. Essentially they focus on datasets with the order of a million cases. As the authors point out there are now many examples of much larger datasets but by limiting to ones that can be loaded in their entirety in standard statistical software they end up with a book that has great utility to the practitioner rather than just the theorist. Another very attractive feature of the book is the many colour plates, showing clearly what can now routinely be seen on the computer screen. The interactive nature of data analysis with large datasets is hard to reproduce in a book but the authors make an excellent attempt to do just this." P. Marriott for the Short Book Reviews of the ISI
