Which program(s) should I learn for intro gaming?

Hi, and thanks.
I've learned a little bit about Java using Netbeans. I was able to create a static game.
What program would you recommend I use to create games with action? For example, those simple platform games I see everywhere, what language are they in? Or a first-person shooter?
I am looking especially for a language that is:
-- as easy to use as possible
-- free or cheap to obtain, if possible.
I don't want something where everything is predetermined and I just have to drag graphics around -- I want the flexibility that writing the code allows.

C++ is a good start, im having trouble right now on it, but anyone who is in the game industry or even a skilled programmer will tell you C++ is it, it gives you a lot more to work with than java and C#, but its a lot more to learn, overall learn C++ and everything else is easier. C++ is main programing language for top retail games too, so learning it as soon as possible is a good start for a job in this industry. Or for making top of the line games

Turbo-Like Codes: Design for High Speed Decoding $163.48 Turbo-like Codes introduces turbo error correcting concept in a simple language, including a general theory and the algorithms for decoding turbo-like code. It presents a unified framework for the design and analysis of turbo codes and LDPC codes and their decoding algorithms.
